SOME  HISTORY
This legendary night was founded by Kyle Russell in 1995 with a single house band (Dub Station) and Dj (K-don). After a decade, the Improper Bostonian picked the night as a Best of Boston, and Russell (who's company KRucial Reggae) has since branched out, hosting new and different acts on stage and on the turntables. The series' long and distinguished history has included appearances by Ras Michael & the Sons of Negus, Abijah, the Itals, Mighty Diamonds, Frankie Paul, Shinehead, Meditations, Junior Kelly, and too many more to be named here, except some of the first singers featured: Skiffington, Mr. B, Paul Wayne, Dion Knibb, and Shaka Black.

BILL’S BAR DIRECTIONS

Bill’s Bar is located at 5 Landsdowne Street, Boston  02215

It’s off Kenmore Square (at junction of Commonwealth Ave and Beacon St., where Brookline St. begins) across from Fenway Park!

BY TRAIN: green line Kenmore Square stop

DRIVING:

From Newport, RI: 24N to 93N, then…

From South:

93N to Storrow Drive Exit (not Cambridge)

From North:

93S to Storrow Drive Exit

From West:

Mass Pike / I90 to 93N

Storrow Drive Exit (not Cambridge)

From Route 2:

Take Route 2 East to 16East  to 93S

Once on Storrow Drive West (from 93)

Keep center lane a couple of exits (Copley, Mass Ave)

Look for LEFT Exit: “Kenmore Square”

Once you enter that LEFT Exit, there’s a fork

Keep RIGHT for Kenmore (not Fenway)

Loops down to Light

Turn Right onto Beacon, proceed, keeping left along median (Beacon merges with Commonwealth Avenue at that point)

Turn 45-degrees left at light, with Pizzeria Uno to your right (onto Brookline Ave.),

Go up over short bridge that spans the Mass Pike

Take your first Left after bridge onto Landsdowne (Cask & Flagon to your left)

and you're there – it’s the next to last club on the left

PARKING: once you off-load (as a band) - unless you’re not carrying much (or you’re a fan)…

Loop back around (Right; Right; and Right, back onto Landsdowne)

And find a spot on Landsdowne (generally there are still spots up high on the street)

If Landsdowne’s full of cars, one of the streets you “loop” right on (above) should have metered spots (they do ticket, and the signs are worth reading on Landsdowne itself).

If you need to use a lot, the one at the top of Landsdowne’s pretty cheap, but sometimes you have to leave your keys. We prefer to take that first right at the end of Landsdowne

and turn right into the $10 lot (that’s what it costs you) and those people are cool…you can exit at the back of that lot (by foot) onto Landsdowne street instead of having to walk back out the front entrance and around…but make sure you’re back before 2:30am parking lot closings.
